FIFE: Local medtech leaders driving jobs and better patient care

WATERLOO — Ontario NDP MPP Catherine Fife says local life sciences companies are demonstrating how homegrown innovation can strengthen Ontario’s economy while improving health outcomes:

“Waterloo Region is home to some truly outstanding companies like Intellijoint Surgical and Vena Medical that are developing technologies used by clinicians and patients around the world. They are creating high-skilled jobs here at home while advancing tools that can make a real difference in patient care.

“I have fought hard for these companies to access this funding because when Ontario innovators succeed, our communities benefit through quality jobs, local manufacturing, and better health solutions.

“Leaders at both companies have spoken about how important this support will be. Intellijoint Surgical said programs like this help Canadian medtech firms scale at home while competing internationally, and Vena Medical highlighted that the investment will allow them to manufacture their advanced devices right here in Kitchener and bring this local innovation to the world. This shows the resilience and global strength of our homegrown companies. We thank these homegrown companies for their patience and loyalty to our community and local economy.
